Mature aged Lifters “You’re never too old to start weight training” At Uber Shape we cater for all ages. As new studies come out it shows that people need to do strength training more than every. Here is a great article from the one of the worlds best lifestyle doctors explaining the benefits of weight training for over fifty’s:
“The older you get, the more you realise how important weight training is. It now makes up the majority of the workouts, and if you’re middle-aged or beyond. I encourage you to make this a regular part of your exercise routine.
The fact is, even though you might not care as much about how your muscles look as you did in your 20s (but then again, you might!), you certainly care about how your muscles function.
Without weight training, your muscles will atrophy and lose mass. Age-related loss of muscle mass is known as sarcopenia, and if you don’t do anything to stop it you can expect to lose about 15 percent of your muscle mass between your 30s and your 80s.” Click the link to read more

Before and After Weight Training. The benefits of weight training as you age are amazing. At 67 I was really starting to feel my age. After having some work done on both knees I was still left with no cartilage in one compartment of my left knee. Had to use a stick to get around the supermarket and normal day to day jobs left me in excruciating pain because of the action of bone on bone in my knee. Tried some physio which helped a bit then decided to do some weight training with a personal trainer to strengthen the muscles around the knee. The results have been nothing short of amazing. After 7 weeks of training for half an hour twice a week I no longer need the walking stick and only the occasional pain when I overdo it.
A big side affect is that I feel so much stronger, have lost a little weight and my body shape overall has improved. (firmer muscle will smooth out the wrinkles). We all start to weaken as we age and find tasks more challenging. It doesn’t have to be that way. The old saying of Use it or Lose it is so true.
